Ella
A small hill-country town wrapped in mist, tea gardens and mountain trails, best known for the Nine Arch Bridge and one of the world's most scenic train rides.
Mountain Views and Scenic Rail Journeys.
Ella's relaxed, backpacker-friendly atmosphere sits in sharp contrast to the dramatic landscape surrounding it — a patchwork of tea plantations climbing steep hillsides toward Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock. The town has become one of Sri Lanka's most photographed stops, largely thanks to the Nine Arch Bridge, a colonial-era railway viaduct threaded through the jungle.
Most guests arrive by the hill-country train from Nuwara Eliya or Kandy, and stay long enough for an early hike to a viewpoint and unhurried time in the cafés and tea houses that line the town's short main street.
